International Jury 64th Festival of Peoples
The international jury of the 64th Festival dei Popoli is composed of:
Johannes Klein dal 2007 è il curatore e responsabile della programmazione dello In-Edit International Music Documentary Festival, il più importante festival sul documentario musicale, nato 21 anni fa a Barcellona e poi estesosi in tutto il mondo con edizioni in Spagna, Cile, Brasile, Colombia, Argentina, Messico, Paesi Bassi e Grecia. Dal 2012 Klein lavora anche per The Festival Agency di Parigi, un punto di riferimento per i festival e la distribuzione alternativa per tutto il mondo. Klein è inoltre curatore senior per i documentari musicali al See The Sound Film Festival di Colonia.
After studying History in Paris, Alice Lemaire settled in Brussels to devote herself entirely to cinema. She worked for Wallonie-Bruxelles Images to promote and export Belgian films abroad. Since 2017, she works as a producer for Michigan Films and develops resolutely singular films, from documentary to fiction. She recently produced “Aya” by Simon C. Gillard (Acid Cannes 2022), “It’s raining in the house” by Paloma Sermon-Daï (Semaine de la Critique Cannes 2023) and “Camping du Lac” by Eléonore Saintagnan (Locarno 2023).
Nataša Urban is a documentary film director working professionally since 2005. Her films have achieved international recognition, being screened at prestigious film festivals worldwide and receiving over 40 awards. Urban holds a Master’s degree in Photography from the University of Arts in Belgrade and her first feature-length film, The Eclipse (2022) has won several international awards, including the DOX:AWARD at CPH:DOX 2022, and Best Documentary Feature Length Special Mention at Festival dei Popoli 2022. It was also shortlisted for the EFA Documentary Award and showcased at renowned film festivals such as IDFA, Sarajevo FF, and MoMA Doc Fortnight.
International Competition Prize
The international jury will award the following prizes for the International Competition section:
- Best Short Documentary duration: up to 30 minutes): € 2,500.00, equally divided between director and production;
- Best Medium-length Film (duration: between 31 and 60 minutes): € 4,000.00, equally divided between director and production;
- Best Feature-Length Documentary (duration: over 60 minutes): € 8,000.00, equally divided between director and production;
- Targa Gian Paolo Paoli best Anthropological Film: Gian Paolo Paoli Award.
Italian Jury of the 64th Festival dei Popoli
The Italian jury of the 64th Festival dei Popoli is composed of:
Pietro Liberati began writing about cinema at a young age. In 2004, he started working in the Italian film industry for distribution companies such as 01 Distribution, Buena Vista (currently Walt Disney S.M.P. Italia), Filmauro, and Eagle Pictures. In 2018, he managed foreign European film projects for a small independent label, bringing original language films to cinemas. In 2020, he founded Trent Film, a distribution company focused on independent cinema, introducing talents such as Hlynur Pálmason, Erige Sehiri, and Maha Haj to Italy.
Raffaella Pontarelli is a producer and film distributor. She holds a Master's degree in Languages and has worked as a production manager for documentaries and shorts. She gained experience at Raindance Film Festival, covering different roles including Senior Programmer and VOD Acquisition. Upon returning to Italy, she completed a course on Film Distribution Finance, Marketing & Sales organized by ANICA. In 2019, she joined Coccinelle Film Sales as international Acquisition & Sales, handling the sales of films such as Cat in the Wall (2019) by Mina Mileva and Vesela Kazakova. In July 2020, she founded her own production and world sales company called Amarena film.
Micol Roubini is an artist and film director who makes films, videos, and installations exhibited in Italy and abroad. Her research focuses on the relationships between man and landscape and on the way such relationships shape the idea of space. In 2019, her first feature film The Road to the Mountains premiered in competition at the 41st Cinéma du Réel and won the Corso Salani Prize at the Trieste Film Festival. She is the co-founder of L'Altauro, a production company of artworks and auteur cinema and documentaries. She writes film projects herself. In 2022, she won the 11th Italian Council competition with the installation "La montagna magica," in collaboration with Lo Schermo dell'arte..
Italian Documentary Award
The Italian jury will award the following prizes for the Italian Competition section:
- Best Italian Documentary Award: €3,000.00 equally divided between director and production.

“Human Rights” Award - Amnesty International Italy The “Human Rights” Award is given by Amnesty International Italia to one of the films in the official selection of the Festival dei Popoli.
Theatrical distribution Award “Imperdibili” The prize will be awarded by the Head of programming of the Cinema La Compagnia in conjunction with her team. The winner will be screened at the Cinema La Compagnia during a period of time to be agreed with the production/distribution.
AMC Best Editing Award AMC - Film and Television Editing Association awards the Best Editing Award to a documentary film in the Italian Competition.

“Il Cinemino” è un progetto culturale nato a Milano nel 2018. Theatrical distribution Award “Il Cinemino”
The award will be given by the team composed of Cinemino's founding members (based in Milan) to the work that best embodies the “cinemino” spirit: commitment, social value and linguistically innovative. The winning film will be programmed with modalities to be agreed upon with the production/distribution.
Audience Award The festival audience will express their preferences by voting the films presented in the International Competition and in the Italian Competition.
